May 2013 Trestleboard

5/1/2013

From the East

Brethren, your Lodge Officers have been busy this last month. We raised Brothers Justin Rosa and David Bushman to the sublime degree of Master Mason. We passed Brother Dave Thomas to the Fellow Craft Degree, and initiated two new Entered Apprentices, Brothers George Fogy and Morgan Zumaeta. Congratulations to all.

Congratulations also to Brother Larry S. Ruppert who received his Golden Veterans Award 50-Year Pin.

A couple dozen members of the Lodge were treated to a tour of the Shriners Hospital for Children. Illustrious Gary Kiddie Potentate of Ben Ali Shrine, led the tour. Thank You Sir. We appreciated it.

May is Youth Orders Month. Come and watch as Job’s Daughters Bethel #292 and the Rainbow for Girls Camellia Assembly #108 demonstrate some of their work. That’s right after the Stated Meeting Dinner at 7:15. As long as you are there why not join us for dinner at 6:30? REMEMBER RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED.

Join us on Saturday, May 25th. from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. for the “Best $5 Breakfast West Of Reno”.

Watch this Trestleboard for events and news about you and your Lodge!

Fraternally, John Scofield, Master

From the West

By the printing of this Trestleboard, I will have attended and completed the Senior Wardens retreat. Thank you for sponsoring me.

Please continue to bring your canned food donations for the food bank. As summer is just around the corner, kids will be out of school and home more, therefore the need for these families is greater.

I look forward to seeing you at lodge.

Fraternally, Tom Angello, Senior Warden

From the South

Thank you to everyone who came out for April’s Stated Meeting and dinner. The dinner was delicious, I would like to thank the Job’s Daughters Bethel 292 for a great dinner. We had a wonderful program, thank you all for attending.

May is Youth Orders Month. We have a wonderful dinner planned for this month. The Stated Meeting Dinner will be on Wednesday, May 8th at 6:30 p.m. Wor. Tom Tompkins, and the Lodge will prepare the dinner. Please see “What’s for Dinner?” below for details. Please remember to call, email me or use our friendly Lodge website to make your reservations in advance for this wonderful dinner. You can now pay for your dinner in advance via our PayPal system.

The month of May has had many Masonic History events, here are a few. President William McKinley received his 1st degree in 1865. President Andrew Johnson received his 1st degree in 1851. Rudyard Kipling received his 2nd degree in 1886. In 1843 a national Masonic Congress was begun in Baltimore in a attempt to establish a uniform ritual for the United States Grand Lodges. The George Washington Masonic National Memorial was dedicated in 1932. President Harry S Truman received his 50 year Masonic award in 1959. Sir Winston Churchill received his 1st degree in 1901. The Grand lodge of West Virginia was established in 1865.

Fraternally, Paul Cary, Junior Warden

Hall Board

The next business meeting of the Hall Board Directors will be on Wednesday May 6, 2013. In addition to voting on some changes in some rental policies, the Directors will entertain Capital Improvement recommendations from the Capital Improvement Committee Chairman. The time has come for the painting of the outside of the building. The Board will be asked to approve asking for bids. We will be looking for volunteers with power washers to prepare the outside of the building for painting. Contact the Building Maintenance Manager, Jim Poindexter, if you can offer your help. We are still looking for a Church Tenant and finally I want to invite any member of the Lodge to attend our Board Meetings.

Fraternally, Don Bagley, P.M., President
