September 2014 Trestleboard

9/1/2014

Picture

From the East

Brethren, Brother Chuck Oldes has regretfully found it necessary to step down as Junior Warden due to an increasingly heavy workload requiring frequent travel. At our August Stated Meeting, Junior Past Master John Scofield was elected to serve as Junior Warden for the remainder of the current Masonic Year. As a result, and after practice meetings all summer, all officers are just about ready for our Inspector to certify them in advanced stations for next year! Also, the Lodge voted to temporarily suspend our traditional rule that the Junior Past Master remain silent and speak only when spoken to!

Thanks to all who participated in the Masonic Family BBQ Potluck. Larry Gore did a great job at the grill!

Chad and Jennifer Riffe have taken on the task of
planning and coordinating our Fall Festival. This annual event (set for October 25th) is already creating excitement and is likely to raise needed funds for lodge activities.

Again this year, I will be pleased to collect your
donated new and gently-used backpacks and those coats that seem to shrink in the closet. They’ll go to a local charity! Also, our local Food Closet thanks us for your continued generous donations. It will soon be time for Turkey donations again! What a great way to help our local community!

Watch this Trestleboard for events and news about
you and your Lodge!

Fraternally, Tom Angello, Master

From the West

Greetings Brethren, Ladies, Family & Friends!

I hope everyone had a great summer! As we enter the month of September the school year starts for some and for us all it brings the beginning of fall and cooler weather.

Here at the lodge your officers have been working hard practicing in advance stations in preparation for year-end qualifications. We have several degrees planned already and look forward to seeing you all.

I was surely surprised when I showed up to the August
Stated Meeting to find that Worshipful Angello was sick. We did however continue on without him and I got to run my first meeting. It was a great meeting! As always we appreciate your attendance and your continued support!

Don’t forget, the 165th Annual Communication of The
Grand Lodge of California is October 10-12 at the Masonic Memorial Temple in San Francisco. I will be there, If you can, I highly recommend you attend.

Fraternally, Paul Cary, Senior Warden

Brethren, if a brother is ill (or is deceased), PLEASE let us know right away! We often miss a chance to send a get-well card or be of some other assistance.

From the South

Brethren, thank you for your confidence in electing me Junior Warden for the remainder of 2014. I will do my best to uphold this honored position. I want to welcome everyone back from our summer break. We have lots to do for the remainder of the year. Be sure to check out the calendar for upcoming degrees.

At this months Stated Meeting we will be reviewing the Grand Lodge legislation coming up in October. Also coming in October is our annual Fall Festival. Be sure to keep an eye out for more information on that. A fun time will be had by all. So please plan on joining us.

Our September dinner is being prepared by the parents of Job’s Daughters Bethel #292. BE SURE TO MAKE YOUR RESERVATION and join us for dinner before our monthly meeting. See below for “What’s for dinner”.

Fraternally, John Scofield, P.M., Jr. Warden

Hall Board

The Harding San Juan Hall board does not have much
going on this summer. Don Bagley, P.M. has decided to step down as president of the hall board after many years of dedicated service. Thank you Worshipful Bagley for your service, your shoes are going to be hard to fill. Tom Tompkins, P.M. has been elected as President until the next election of hall board officers. A special thank you to Jim
Poindexter, P.M. for a great job replacing the rear entry doors. The doors look wonderful and the locks work very well compared to doors that were there.

If you know of any improvements that you feel need to be done to our lodge, just let one of your hall board members know, we will take it under serious consideration. Your recommendations are appreciated.

Fraternally, Tom Tompkins, P.M., President
