March 2013 Trestleboard

3/1/2013

From the East

We had a busy month in February. Congratulations to Brothers Justin Rosa and David Bushman for being passed to the degree of Fellowcraft and to Brother William Brill on being Raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason.

Our Sweetheart Dinner was a great success. We had a wonderful meal prepared and served by the girls and parents of Job’s Daughters Bethel #292. Thanks also to Wor. Doug Veale for entertainment. And thank you to Brother Paul Cary for planning this great event for our Belles.

Following our March Stated Meeting Dinner we will have our Roll Call Ceremony in the Lodge Room open to all ladies and guests. We will pay tribute to those brothers who have passed away since our last Roll Call.

We will then present the Hiram Award to Don Bagley, P.M.. Please join Past Hiram Award recipients, your lodge officers, brethren, ladies and guests for the presentation of the highest award a lodge can confer upon one of its members.

Also at our Stated Meeting we are pleased to welcome our Inspector, Wor. Frank Russell on his Official Visit.

Our monthly Stated Meeting Dinners are supposed to be fundraisers for the groups that serve us. Attendance has dropped. Our meal preparers are losing money. I need to find out why! I need your input to help make the dinners a fun and enjoyable time in addition to providing an awesome meal. Please contact me with your ideas.

Please plan to join us for our “Best $5 Breakfast West of Reno” on Saturday, March 23rd. We start serving at 8am and go till 10 am.

Watch this Trestleboard for events and news about you and your Lodge!

Fraternally, John Scofield, Master

From the West

I have had a bout with the flu. I hope all of you and your families are keeping healthy. It is that time of year. I am looking forward to returning to lodge functions.

Fraternally, Tom Angello Senior Warden

From the South

The Stated Meeting dinner for February was delicious. I would like to thank our Job’s Daughters Bethel 292 for a wonderful dinner.

The Sweetheart Dinner was a wonderful event. Thank you all for your continued support. A special thank you to our Belles for coming out and enjoying the night. A special thanks to Wor. Doug Veale for the entertainment and to the Job’s Daughter’s Bethel 292 for a wonderful dinner. Your support of these events is invaluable. Thank you to everyone that helped organize this terrific event.

The month of March brings us the holiday of St. Patrick’s Day. We have a wonderful dinner planned for this month. We will also be having the Roll Call Ceremony and we will be presenting the Hiram Award to Wor. Don Bagley. We have the “Best Breakfast West of Reno” happening on March 23, 2013 at 8:00 A.M. I hope to see you all there.

The Stated Meeting Dinner will be on Wednesday, March 13th at 6:30 P.M. The Ben Ali Patrol will be preparing the dinner. Please see “What’s for Dinner?” below.

Please remember to call, email me or use our Lodge website to make your reservations and even pay in advance using PayPal.

What's for Dinner?

The month of March has had many Masonic History events, here are a few. President George Washington received his Fellow Craft degree in 1753. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle received his 3rd degree in 1887. Sir Winston Churchill received his 3rd degree in 1902. The Grand lodge of Massachusetts was established in 1792. The Grand lodge of Kansas was established in 1856. The Grand lodge of Arizona was established in 1882. Prince Hall was initiated into Freemasonry in 1775. The Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Washington D.C. was established in 1848. A national Masonic Congress was held in Washington D.C., in the U.S. Capital building in 1822.

Fraternally, Paul Cary, Junior Warden

Hall Board

Greetings from the Hall Board. We have not had a meeting since the last Trestleboard Article but have kept busy keeping the building in shape and working in the yard in particular. We have a duty to our neighbors and the general public to keep our place looking good. In that endeavor we are in the process of removing some old shrubs and replacing them with more attractive shrubbery. Also we are getting rid of the ivy that has been growing on the front projection in preparation for repainting the building. Also we still have a lot of wood chips to be placed in the shrub beds to keep the weeds down.

On a different subject, we have placed a conference table and chairs in the Library room at the west end of the hallway to better serve as a place for small meetings including the Hall Board meetings. In the old conference room at the top of the stairs is still the Masonic Library. Anyone interested in Masonic History is welcome to use the Library and borrow books if you desire.

Finally we are still looking for a church tenant to replace the church tenant that moved out on December 31, 2012.

Fraternally, Don Bagley, P.M., President
