January 2013 Trestleboard

1/1/2013

From the East

Brethren, welcome back to another exciting year. 2012 was a busy year for the lodge. Thanks to all who attended our Installation of Officers. I am so gratefull to Pat Gore and Vi Lewis for the wonderful refreshments!

We hope to have another excellent year of growth for 2013. We have two degrees already planned for the New Year. On January 14th there will be a First Degree for Mr. Cyrus Alan Bliss. Then on January 28th we will have a Third Degree for Brother Matthew Silva. Please plan to attend these Degrees and watch your officers work.

We have some great Lodge events planned. Don’t forget our Crab Feed is coming up on January 12th. You can check with any of the officers for tickets or call Wor. Don Bagley for tickets. We will have our annual Sweetheart’s Dinner on February 16th. Contact our Junior Warden Brother Paul Cary for your reservations. On June 29th we will have our annual Lodge Family Picnic. Then on August 10th we will have our Ice Cream Social. If you missed it last year don’t miss this one. October will bring us fall colors and our Fall Festival on October 12th. And don’t forget also the 4th Saturday of every month is breakfast. Come join us for food and fellowship.

Please continue to bring in your food donations for the Sunrise Food Locker. Their need continues to grow in this tough economic time we live in.

This year’s line of Officers is an outstanding group of men. I look forward to serving with them. Please come and join us with your support we will have a very successful year. I look forward to the challenges as Master this year. Thank you for your support.

Watch this Trestleboard for events and news about you and your Lodge!

Fraternally, John Scofield, Master

What's for Dinner?

The Stated Meeting dinner menu:  Hearty Assorted Soup Bar, Salad, Bread, and a Delicious Dessert.

Hall Board

The Hall Board does not meet in December so no action has been taken since the November Annual Meeting. However the Building Maintenance Manager has kept busy with the usual repair and maintenance to keep the facility in good order. The yard work of removing Ivy off the building, removing some shrubs that have died, painting the metal vents on the roof, moving chips and tree trimming has been interrupted by bad weather. As soon as the weather allows we will schedule a couple of workdays to get the job done.

I am sorry to announce that the church that has been renting our building the past few years has given notice that they are moving out December 31st. The loss of rental income from the church will be a blow to our income to maintain the building and pay the bills. Our Rental/Lease Manager, Director Bob Jackson is working hard to find a new tenant. If anyone knows of a potential candidate to rent on Sundays, please contact Bob Jackson and let him know.

We have always stressed to our tenants the need for conservation by seeing that the lights, heating and AC on turned off when the leave the building. At this time it is of up most importance to hold down the use of water, power and gas. These three items account for about a large amount in the budget for a year. Well, on to the New Year!

Fraternally, Don Bagley, P.M., President

From the West

Brethren. The Holidays are upon us and the New Year seems to approach us faster and faster each year.

I don't foresee any changes from the West in the upcoming masonic year. It was nice to see everyone at the Installation, especially during the busy time of year. I am thankful for all the assistance from all the brothers for all of their guidance in making this transition smooth and orderly.

Fraternally, Tom Angello, Senior Warden

From the South

Brethren, Ladies, Family & Friends, I would like to take this time to thank you all for such a great turn out at the Annual Installation. It is a special honor that the Brethren of Harding San Juan Lodge No. 579 have entrusted me with the duties of Junior Warden for the ensuing Masonic Year. Thank you all for your trust, support, and encouragement.

Job’s Daughters, Bethel 292 will prepare and serve the January Stated Meeting Dinner. Please see “What’s for Dinner?” below.

The Month of January will be a busy one for the Junior Warden and Lodge as we prepare for the Sweetheart Dinner on Saturday, February 16th. Please keep your calendar open for this event. If you would like to attend Please contact me to RSVP and let me know if your able to escort one of our widows (Harding San Juan Belles).

The month of January has had many Masonic History events, here are a few. President Theodore Roosevelt received his 1st degree in 1901. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart received his 2nd degree in 1785. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle received his 1st degree. The Grand lodge of Indiana was established in 1818. The Grand lodge of Utah was established in 1872. The Grand lodge of Nevada was established in 1865. The Grand Lodge of Montana was established in 1866. The Grand Lodge of Ohio was established in 1808.

Fraternally, Paul Cary, Junior Warden
