October 2013 Trestleboard

10/1/2013

From the East

Thank you to all who attended our September Stated Meeting dinner. We enjoyed a fantastic turnout. We had 46 reservations and sold 50 dinners. Please continue making your reservations. It helps out the folks who prepare and serve our meals. And thank you to the Parents of Bethel #292 for preparing such a delicious meal. And thank you to the girls of Bethel #292 for serving.

Plan on joining us for the October Stated Meeting on Oct 9th. See “From The South” for “What’s for Dinner”.

We are getting our boots on and preparing for this year’s Fall Festival on Oct 12th. Social hour is at 6 p.m.with dinner at 7 p.m. We have a “cowboy western theme” going on this year, “Man Up Texas BBQ”. Your plate will have ribs, brisket, chicken and sausage. Plus cowboy beans, potato salad, corn bread and a delicious Peach cobbler. This is one dinner not to miss. Please call Brother Chuck Oldes at 916-740-2680 to reserve your spot at the dinner table. Tickets are only $20. $10 for kids under 12 years. Come on out and join us.

Our September after dinner program was a tribute to the Observance of our Constitution. Thank you Brother Brian Evers for his report. We also had Janet Grant from Christmas Promise come and speak to us on this wonderful program. I am hoping our Lodge can get involved with this very worthwhile and much needed program. Be watching here for more information and how you can help.

A big hardy welcome to our newest Brother, James Evans III. He was initiated an Entered Apprentice on Sept. 16th. And congratulations to Brother Dave Thomas for being raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason on Sept. 30th.

The Masons for Mitts program is over for this year. Thank you so much to all those that gave to this wonderful program. Let us challenge ourselves next year to help continue this great program. Be looking for Wor. Jim Watt to make the announcements in the Spring.

Please plan on joining us this month as we Raise Brother Shane Fackrell to the sublime degree of Master Mason on Monday Oct. 14th. Also join with us on Monday October 28th as we do a double First degree for Mr. Richard Louma and Mr. Michael Nichols. Remember Brothers the doors close promptly at 7 p.m.

Watch this Trestleboard for events and news about you and your Lodge!

Fraternally, John Scofield, Master

From the West

Brethren, thank you for the continued food donations. As the holidays approach, please remember, every donation counts. I will be taking a load of coat donations to loaves and fishes after the Oct. stated meeting. So there is still plenty of time to donate.

I’m looking forward to seeing everyone at The Lodge Fall Festival, Brother Oldes’ “Man Up Texas BBQ” on Saturday, Oct 12th. Social hour starts at 6 p.m. Tickets have been issued to the officers of the lodge. If you need tickets contact your lodge officers.

Looking Forward: In November we have our annual turkey drive so remember brethren, everyone can give something. If you are unable to give a turkey, give some fixings!!

The Annual Installation of Officers is on Sunday December 15th. Please mark your calendar. I’m looking froward to seeing you there.

The Crab Feed is coming up on January 11th. This is our largest fundraiser!! Please consider an Auction donation!!

Fraternally, Tom Angello, Senior Warden

Hall Board

The Hall Board project of painting the exterior of the Lodge Building has been completed. We are very satisfied with work and especially the Masonic Emblem on the San Juan Avenue side of the building. It really sets our Lodge Building off. The next project is to improve our landscape with general weed clearing, distribution of wood chips to the shrub beds and planting some new shrubbery. We plan on a couple of work days with several able bodied members to accomplish this project in October when it cools down a little. We have one more Board Meeting this year in November and the 2014 Board will take over in January. That is about it for this month.

Fraternally, Don Bagley, P.M., President
